Nominated for "Best Interior Design 2011" Hotel DOM, Netherlands
Design hotel with standing
Hospitality business MAMMONI from Utrecht, The Netherlands, opened in October 2011 the doors of Hotel DOM. The concept with great ambition was put on the market and within a few months it seems to work accordingly and better yet, working. In December 2011 Dom was labelled with its Restaurant & Cocktail Bar Four as “Topper 2012 ‘by the independent website for reviews of Dutch Restaurants, IENS. And now they can now add an important second nomination. The leading hospitality magazine VENUEZ has Hotel DOM nominated in the category, BEST INTERIOR DESIGN 2011. The nomination is a award that is set on to a high-profile interior of Dutch Hospitality. DOM is praised for its interior design concept, originality, innovation, execution and ambiance.
MAMMONI started in 2002 by Jan van der Grift, born in Utrecht. Who after a career of 10 years decided to start as a entrepreneur himself. His motive: to astablich something in his city that was not there before, and he was missing as a inhabitant of the city. With this in mind he started in 2010 the adventure of Hotel Dom and restaurant in an 18th-century building set in the Domstraat. Inpiration he found in hotels as “10 Corso Como” and the “Criminal Hotel”, both in Milan, Hotel “Delano” in Miami and “Morgans” in New York. Experience and passion for design is echoed in everything. VENUEZ says in its judgment about DOM: “It has a metropolitan character, which is quite unusual for Utrecht.” Thus there is now an upscale entertainment and hotel location with an international reputation. “Our audience loves to travel, is accustomed to quality and is curious about the world of art, culture and fashion,” says Van der Grift.
Hotel DOM is just around the corner from the famous Cathedral of Utrecht. The monumental exterior is combined with modern private rooms and suites, each room or suite is uniquely decorated. In the large suites where we choose to but the bed and bath as centre-point by making to room as open as possible, using a minimum of walls. That is also the concept for the cocktail-bar “We choose instead of a wall in the bar for a glass with see-through view of the kitchen, with lots of stone and special lighting pleasing to the eye”. says Van der Grift “This concept shows tremendous atmosphere and a pleasure to relax in.” ‘And to win this design award will be great not only for us but for the city as well. Design shoot be all around us not only in Museums and Gallery’s but in daily life as well. On April 2 VENUEZ will announce the winner of the award for ‘Best Interior Design 2011’.
