Zaha Hadid’s Nova for United Nude

Couture isn’t all.. about the dresses

Architect Zaha Hadid has designed for the Dutch shoe brand United Nude a very unique shoe. The shoe is composed of materials such as vinyl, rubber and nappa (leather). Actually more an object, but you can walk on it. The launch took place in the boutique L’Eclaireur Nova in Paris. Where Rem D. Koolhaas (not the architect) – owner of United Nude – along with Hadid this shoe introduced to the public.

The result is quintessentially Hadid. the revolutionary design of the NOVA shoe combines innovative materialization and ergonomic considerations with the dynamism of Hadid’s unmistakable architectural language to convey an inherent sense of movement.

The collaboration with Zaha was long in the barrel. Says Koolhaas “I met her a few years ago. We had an instant click. Zaha told she was a shoe addict and then the idea came to create a shoe together”. My collaboration with United Nude reinterprets the classic shoe typology explains Hadid; “pushing the boundaries of what is possible without compromising integrity.”

The United Nude brand enjoys working together with other designers. Fashion designers Mattijs Bergen and Iris van Herpen have already passed the revue. And according to Koolhaas if possible, we add more names to the list of ‘collaborations’.
