Wicker glasses by Studio Ingeveldt at DDW
Nominated by Dutch Darlings
Noelle Ingeveldt owner of Studio Ingeveldt and winner of the D’SIGN Awards 2014 is nominated in the Dutch Darlings souvenir contest with the Wicker Sunglasses. Showcased on the stand of Craft Council in the Klokgebouw / Clock-building during the DDW from October 18th until the 26th in Eindhoven.
Noelle Ingeveldt: “That the art of braiding very old is beyond dispute. Today, is braiding seen as a mostly dusty and old-fashioned craft. Hard to find in the Netherlands because the production are been moved abroad. In the time that hip and retro hipsters call the shots, it’s time to get production back and give this old craft again his appreciation its deserve. After the metal, plastic and wood glasses there is a new style, the reed woven look.”
Announcing the winner
Crafts Council Netherlands presents the results of the design competition Dutch Darlings in a special exhibition. New Dutch souvenirs, based on traditional techniques, are shown. The winners of the competition, or the Dutch Darlings, will be also announced on Saturday, October 18th at 16:00 in the upper-space of Hall 4 in the Klokgebouw / Clock-building. There is also the opportunity for visitors to vote which design deserves the audience award.
Dutch Darlings souvenir contest
Dutch Darlings is an open call for creators, designers and professionals are challenged to design an innovative souvenir based on a traditional Dutch craft. An initiative of the Netherlands Crafts Council, an umbrella organization dedicated to the preservation, transfer and development of the creative craft. Since 2013 a platform where craft, art, fashion, design and heritage come together. Shares knowledge, presents best practices and makes connections between artists, disciplines, education and the public.
Klokgebouw / Clock-building
