Ready to Wear Collection 2015 by Gareth Pugh
Warrior nature by Gareth Pugh
Gareth Pugh, English fashion designer has a rather unique perspective on fashion. His adventure with the world of fashion started 10 years ago by designing theatrical costumes, was decisive for his future career. And after a workin in Paris and New York, Gareth Pugh returned to where it all began: London. “This city is where everything started for me, my entire creative family are here, so it’s in everything I do. It’s my home,” he said.
This year’s collection of Gareth Pugh, Ready to Wear was presented in London. The collection Ready to Wear was not chosen without reason, is dramatic, theatrical and full of symbolism and artistic beauty. Creations in black leather and high-quality fabrics with intriguing additions reminiscent of theatrical costumes and even armour.
The enfant terrible of the nu rave era who disappeared. Any critics would surely be silenced – a Paris gloss, finesse and self-assurance in what went down the catwalk. Of course it wasn’t directly or even indirectly wearable – it was never going to be and that was never really the point. It was nightmarish and intimidatingly still, but it came with a renewed and focused point of view behind it – unwavering in its articulated warrior nature, which was always Pugh’s aesthetic through and through.
You can of course argue that the fashion which suggests Gareth Pugh is the future of fashion, cyber punk or total abstraction, but definitely worth it to know.
something more out there, dramatic and tricky, cyber punk or total abstraction.
