Nominee: Renate Nederpel with PopUp Linen
Category Home Interior: Design PopUp Linen
PopUp Linen, a wardrobe by Dutch designer Renate Nederpel is made out of cotton fabric and wooden panels. The origamiesque construction method makes it able to fold the body completely flat when its wooden poles are removed.
The soft foldable Popup Linen cabinet rest on high pinewood legs. This legs cross through the fabric body structure and hold it in place. By stitching around the separated panels this foldable construction appears. Some extra
flaps of fabric at the corners makes it possible that the front and back can be pushed together, in a simple movement the hole body lays/fold flat.
This small wooden parts slots om both sides by wrapping the rope around them. The doors can swing and hold open by connecting the rope end around the wooden door knobs. This wardrobe is created “to be produced and transported efficiently”. Dimentions in working position: H200 x W160 x D100cm. Flat pack: H255 x W225 x D7cm.
In consideration with the designer a customize design or size is possible. Together with this large cabinet she designed a smaller version.
