Nominee: Lisanne van Zanten & Renée Boute with Tastemaker

Category Kitchen: Design Tastemaker

The name says it already… Tastemaker. A cutlery that affects your taste. The cutlery set includes a spoon and a fork that will make you experience sweet or salty flavors more intense. The color, the material and the size of the cutlery are the outcome of research about influence and manipulation of flavor.

It appears that a light, small and blue cutlery accentuates an extra salty flavor. Meanwhile the heavier, longer and white cutlery accentuates the sweetness of your food. Manipulation of food is, beside this cutlery, a daily thing. Just look in supermarkets, there you’ll also find translations of these research outcomes. Think of the appearance and packaging of food.
