HMC graduates in the spotlight Expo 2016 Amsterdam
HMC and the future of innovative craftsmanship
Last monday the HMC Expo 2016 Amsterdam was officially opened by the city councilor from Amsterdam, Simone Kukenheim! The students find it great fun to present themselves and their work to parents, friends, acquaintances and the many interested people from the business. And like every year it’s a real pleasure to be a part of these festivities. The lectures, the Awards, the luxurious catering (worth a compliment) but most striking are the graduates who are diffidently in the spotlight.
The graduation expo of the HMC is for students to the completion of their training. It gives them the opportunity to show what they have learned. HMC offers his students the classic craftsmanship combined with experimental, innovative and very modern approach to design.
The lectures given by given by Carin Frijters, Llex Pott, Rolf Hut and Zuzanna Skalska. Are linked with the program, this years theme; Trends, materials and store – concepts: “students experiment wherever possible”, says Frans Veringa from the HMC. What does the future look like in the field of innovative craftsmanship? Gave much insights to the theme not only for students but also for many interested, was the theme full of insights.
The expo hold also the possibility to win several Awards and Prices. The HMC – professional award. Where students can win a voucher worth 300, – euro, to help develop their products. The LEOLUX -Price for the interior students, about originality and choice of materials as used in the final design. Most prestigous is the Baars & Bloemhoff ‘Master of materials’ -Price. Where six nominees get a chance to present their work to a large group of architects and designers. The winner can exhibit his/her work during Salone del Mobile in Milan.
There is also a Public Award, chosen during the expo by the public. The award will be awarded on the 15th of July by Stephan van der Horst, co-owner and director Co van der Horst
A difficult task for the public, because a lot of work has a high standard. We wish every graduate good luck with their career and all graduate, professionals, graduates or just interested a good day en hope you enjoy the overview.
