Dutch Design Week gets its own music festival
50 artists at various venues in the city
The Dutch Design Week is expanding the program to a music festival. During the first edition of DDW Music about 50 artists will perform on several stages in Eindhoven.
DDW Music is planned simultaneously with the traditional design week, this year from 17 to 25 October. The music should become a standard within the DDW program. The festival is organized by the organization of DDW, the Effenaar and booking agency Friendly Fire. “We want to emphasize this more festival feeling of the Dutch Design Week,” said spokeswoman Raffaela Vandermühlen.
During DDW his performances scheduled in the Stroomhuis, Nul Zes, café Wilhelmina, Altstadt, Tuchthuis, Van Abbe Museum and Club Arcade. The poster list includes singer-songwriter Ryley Walker, the Portuguese / Angolan band Throes + The Shine and Helmond / Laarnbeekse group Nouveau Vélo. Owners of a DDW passe-partout have free access. There also sell individual tickets. The Effenaar is also the scene of DDW Music.
On October the 24th, the Dutch Design Awards ceremony will be held in the Effenaar. During this Award Show the winner of the best in Dutch design will be rewarded in a spectacular way. After the ceremony, the Dutch Design Week will ended with The Closing Party, an adventurous party where DJ’s, electronic music and design will meet.
Also offers the DDW Music program ‘specials’, concerts by renowned artists. One name is already known: the American singer, composer and musician Rufus Wainwright gives October 25 his only Dutch show at the Music Building. The music of Rufus Wainwright is characterized by a love for songs, theater and opera, as well as the intimate and fragile songs of Elton John and Randy Newman.
The full line up of DDW Music is expected mid-September. Also, the program of The Closing Party will be officially announced.
Tickets can be bought via effenaar.nl, ddw.nl and at the box office of the Effenaar.
